Artificial Intelligence Learning Programme (AILP) for HCI

Introduction

This is an AI learning program aiming to provide AI education to Hwa Chong Institution's students. The curriculum consists of 10 lessons that explore the realm of AI, focusing on machine learning and deep learning.

AILP for HCI, is designed to nurture students' interest in AI and encourage them to work on real-world problem-solving projects. It covers topics like machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and natural language processing. Students will embark on an AI literacy learning journey, followed by interactive micro-courses led by AI Engineers from AI Singapore.

Throughout the program, students will discover the power of AI, particularly in the areas of Computer Vision and Large Language Models. They will learn to address real-world problems by understanding the machine learning workflow and utilizing tools like the PeekingDuck CV framework and open-source LLM tools such as Huggingface.

The ultimate goal is to equip the students with AI literacy, enabling them to tackle challenges using AI.

Author Biography

Kent Cheong
Computing Teacher, Hwa Chong Institution

Kent Cheong is a Computing Teacher at Hwa Chong Institution (HCI) and the Teacher-In-Charge of Infocomm & Robotics Society. He teaches Python Programming, Microcontroller Hardware and Software Programming, and Artificial Intelligence Literacy to students in the Computing Talent Programme. With a Master of Art in Instructional Design from the Singapore National Institute of Education, he combines his expertise in education and technology.

Having previously worked as a Technical Editor in Silicon Valley during the dot com era, Mr. Cheong brings valuable industry experience to his role. In 2023, he undertook a Teacher Work Attachment with AI Singapore to develop LearnAI's AI Learning Programme (AILP) for HCI aiming to embark on AI learning. With his dedication to empowering students with cutting-edge skills, Mr. Kent Cheong continues to make a significant impact in the field of education and artificial intelligence.
